Elephant Tree's Theia

Regardless of whether you're into the psychedelic semi spiritual imagery portrayed by the lyrics, be prepared to saturate your ears with epic sound and super charged instrumentation.

Towards the end of last year New York based Magnetic Eye Records released Elephant Tree's Theia. Not only was it released on vinyl but, in spectacular fashion with three styles to choose from all with digital download included.

Bringing smatterings of sitar bathed in heavy blues, Elephant Tree's Theia is a slow heavy grind into the smoky world of stoner metal, think Sleep, YOB. The album is a master piece of production and instrumentation with classic 70s vocals that occasionally transform into the contemporary roar of doom metal. Put together you've atmosphere that easily fits the stereotype of a wafting psychedelic landscape. The whole album is driven on by huge flowing riffs, layers of fat thundering sound and solid grounding rhythms. Regardless of whether you're into the psychedelic semi spiritual imagery portrayed by the lyrics, be prepared to saturate your ears with epic sound and super charged instrumentation.

This is without a doubt another for the short list of any diehard stoner metal fan. Check out Elephant Tree's Theia on Band Camp. For the undecided, have a listen for free before scrounging up the cash.
